Welcome to Hunt & Harvest

When George Smith died three years ago, I lost one of my biggest cheerleaders.  He was always trying to figure out how I could advance my outdoor writing career. He connected me with the editor at Downeast Magazine when they produced an issue all about hunting.  My article was featured on the cover, and I was the center article. George published his book, “Maine Sporting Camps,” one year before he was diagnosed. He asked me to write a chapter so that I could say that I was a published author.  He was forever promoting me and encouraging me.

When George died, the voice of the Maine’s outdoors became quieter. Until now. It is with some emotion and excitement that I announce the launch of Hunt & Harvest.  My monthly column will appear on the second Friday of every month in the Central Maine newspapers, both in print and digital form.

My editor has given me free range to write about hunting, conservation, trapping and any of my outdoor adventures.  Just like George, I will be writing from my experiences in Maine’s woods and waterways and throwing in some of my opinions along the way.

This will be a way to reach more people (for better or worst) and share my love of the outdoors.  Maybe a few of them will join us here and subscribe to this website (it’s at the bottom of the page!)

There will be more fellow outdoorswomen and men to connect with, more outdoor enthusiasts and more anti’s to encounter but I am happy to step up and spread the message.

I won’t publish the Hunt & Harvest articles here, but I will post a link to them on my socials. Feel free to follow me on IG or Facebook so that you can subscribe and read along.
